Compensation
Students will be paid minimum wage and limited to no more than 19 hours
per week. Students MUST document hours as outlined in the Student Worker
Handbook in accordance to hours worked, days worked, breaks etc.
Job Description
- Work with the agriculture staff unit manager to define unit responsibilities,
work hours, duties and evaluation procedure. Exercise horses, provide
heat detection and brood mare management.
- Assist equine herdsperson with cleaning pens, feeding horses, assist
in equine breeding program. Sanitize, and repair facilities as needed.
- Assist instructor in setting up class laboratories and coordinate
equine health protocol with instructor.
- Inventory horses and feed as necessary.
- Assist equine herdsperson in maintaining and preparing arena for
classes. Maintain lanes and facilities in regards to weed control, sprinklers
and repair of fences.
- Manage breeding protocol as outlined by instructor.
Evaluation Procedure
Student unit managers will be evaluated on a monthly basis or as needed
by the agriculture staff unit manager. Poor ratings of work performance
may be grounds for the dismissal of the student worker.
