College of the Sequoias Farm Laboratory Student Unit Manager Job Description

Compensation

Students will be paid minimum wage and limited to no more than 19 hours per week. Students MUST document hours as outlined in the Student Worker Handbook in accordance to hours worked, days worked, breaks etc.

Job Description

1. Work with the agriculture staff unit manager to define unit responsibilities, work hours, duties and evaluation procedure.
2. Maintain lawn by mowing, fertilizing, weeding and edging on a weekly basis or as needed. Prune trees as needed. Weed areas under trees and provide mulching as needed.
3. Spray weeds around trees and maintain drip irrigation system and sprinkler systems.
4. Weed landscaping in arboretum, plant and maintain flowerbeds. Replace dead or damaged plants.
5. Maintain pathways.
6. Secure and maintain all landscaping tools used in the arboretum unit.
   

Evaluation Procedure

Student unit managers will be evaluated on a monthly basis or as needed by the agriculture staff unit manager. Poor ratings of work performance may be grounds for the dismissal of the student worker.
